Kitchen Science Newsletter

A newsletter was sent home today. If you did not receive it for any reason here is what it said:

01/09/16
Dear Parents/ Caregivers
Next week, Room 4 is going to be doing a Kitchen Science Unit. We are going to be using the context of food to explore Science (Physical properties, describing the changes when items are heated, mixed or cooled) and Maths (Volume and Capacity). Over the course of the week, and our topic day on Friday we will be trying to make different things including; ice cream in a bag, popcorn, hot chocolate, jelly, and apple sauce. (Note, depending on time, we may not get to make everything on this list). During this unit, the students will be making predictions, observations and then reflecting on their new learning. It also has links to writing as they will be writing procedural texts about the experiments we are doing.

Please let me know if your child has any food allergies, or if you do not want your child to participate in any part of the week for any reason. My email is danielles@koromatua.school.nz
Kind Regards

Danielle Skynner, Room 4 Teacher
